CL Critic Hal Horowitz Recommends: Women are doing it for themselves! Get dad dancing on Father’s  Day to this quintet who describe themselves as
“Atlanta’s newest all female blues, funk, swing, rockin’, groovin’ band.” That neatly sums up what is surely a diverse set of influences rolled into  a talented five piece of local women.

Beautiful day at Feathers Edge Vineyards yesterday. I witnessed my first all-women blues band, Blue Velvet, followed by the Shuffle Junkies. Blue Velvet had the best version of Can’t Find My Way Home that I’ve ever heard a cover band do. I also really enjoyed the flute interludes. That was something you don’t hear everyday and reminded me of why I like Jethro Tull.

Just wanted to let you know Blue Velvet Atlanta is something really special. Vocal harmonies, tight
arrangements, unique songs. The bass and drums jell together well too!
